I am new to this blog (perhaps it was an entry in "Spectrum 15" that turned me on to it?) but have been lurking for some time now. I would like to know the inspiration for this piece. Is there some other well-known place I should find that kind of information, or should I just ask here in the comments? I get the impression that a large number of artists' work appears here.
Peter - There wasn't a particular inspiration for this piece. I just started drawing random stuff and it just progressed from there, I was trying to get movement into my work since a lot of my pieces tend to be fairly static. But that's about it.
All of the artists who post here are artists who work at Big Huge Games in Maryland. This is a place for us to post personal work that we do in our (not so) copious free time... feel free to ask questions or post comments whenever you like!
Ha. Here's something you might find flattering, then, since you were trying to get movement in the piece: After I saw the piece I downloaded it, opened it up in GIMP and traced stick figures around the guy in the hat...just to study the sense of motion you accomplished there.
This is more impressive when you realize I am not an artist...like, at all. Didn't know you were so inspirational, eh? hehe.
This is the official, unofficial blog of the Big Huge Games art team. The artwork shown here consists of art produced by Big Huge Artists, created when they're not creating Big Huge game art.
A Big Huge Games' art exhibition which ran at the Rosenberg Gallery at the Maryland Institute College of Art from September 14th through October 8th, 2006.
