I sketched this a few months back when I was wowing full steam... hehe 8P

SPARTA!!!

I, too, finished Dominance War!

And here are the final illustration and model sheet from my entry. Twas good fun, and I wish all of those who entered "good luck"..... you're gonna NEED IT! MUHUHUAHAHAHAA! OK, that was dumb. Ted, Sang, awesome entries!

The war is over!

Finished up my entry for the dominance war III contest. It was really tough to find any time to do this but it was worth it. Big thanks to Sang for giving me some great tips and advice on the image. I learned a lot. By the way I hope Sang and Sean post their images soon. Both of their images came out great and I didn't realize until the end that we were all representing CGTALK.

This one is for a Shakespeare story called A Midsummer Night's Dream. It's for an assignment given by Sam Weber in my fashion illustration class.

Here's the finished piece for the Watersnake image I posted earlier. Lemme know what you guys think. This took waayy too long.

Rough Sketch

I decided to sketch my next character using the blue Col-Erase pencil since I have been using digital for as long as I can remember. It's nice to go back and forth every once in awhile. But will start painting in this guy very soon here and will start tweaking several areas. Can't wait to color this dude. Cheers!

Quickie sketch before bed. Been checking out some Ashley Wood tonight. Undead is the best race in WOW!

Dominance 3

Wow, its been so long since I've posted. I see alot of great work. Kenji, your consistent posting is definitely tight mode! Well, here's my Illustration for DW3. I might go back into it, but I think it's far along enough to call finished. Next up, orthos.

I decided to try my hand at using the hair and fur modifier so I modeled a character to experiment on. This is an animation I made with the little penguin.

DS Sketches/Scribbles

A few of us at work are playing around with COLORS! for the Nintendo DS Lite. I think Aaron started it all? It's really fun and I've found myself just scribbling while watching TV. Here are some of my "pieces". I'm thinking that this is a good way to start an image, then take it into photoshop to finish it.

And this is cool...you can upload your image on the COLORS! site and people can view the movie of how you painted your image. So cool. Check it out.

I found some cool studies done by GORO who is on CGTALK a bit and some more done by SPARTH on his site. Looking at Sparth's stuff makes me realize I need to start doing some life studies and with the DS there's no reason not to go outside and do some digital sketches. Here are some more images from Sparth...pretty cool stuff.

Western mini series 'wip' update:

Here is a wip update on a mini-sequential series with a western theme. Trying to experiment with a more animated style and really having fun with these. Will keep updating as I make progress. Still reworking this image but not much more. Hope you guys like and cheers!

Kenji hits AWESOME MODE!!!!!

Since Kenji has been really good about doing pieces so frequently I was inspired to do an ode to his work ethic and his addiction to energy drinks. I may go back into this after crunch mode. "Bshh"

More work on the Fishy Cleric dude....

Slowly but surely.

Doodle 3/18/08...

Here is another image I finished tonight. Lizard running through water in the hot summer mode...wish it was summer. Enjoy!

Mock Turtle II

I've let this sit way too long. I finally pushed on it some tonight for about an hour.
I'd been having some trouble with the shell pieces but I think making them darker helped. Not sure about the background, but I'm leaning away from anything literal, I think. And perhaps the front flippers could use some more contrast. Reactions or ideas would be great.

Doodle 3/17/08

Here is a new image I finished this evening. Penguin mode!

Some Photoshopping

I was messing around with some brushes in photoshop and came up with this sketch. It's sort of an armored suit from the book starship troopers, but I also wanted to paint something that reminded me of those deep-sea diving suits, and a TONKA truck.

I'm digging this new brush so I did another sketch. This is my version of the guards who paint the white roses in Wonderland. I was thinking about the scene in HERO where the guy is doing his calligraphy with this giant brush and huge sheet of paper.

tales

For my thesis I've been illustrating short stories and folk lore from around the world. These are the ones done in water color. I will try and get better quality photos soon.

This one is an Icelandic fairy tale called The Father of Eighteen Elves, which is a story about changelings.

This next one is a work in progress. It's from a Russian fairy tale called The Water Snake.

Dominance War Character work....

Here is the final drawing for my DWIII character: He is a Fishy Clericon who uses a Holy Blunderbuss to blast heretical robo-sinners in the FACE!

Doodle 3/11/08

Here is another image done today after work. Hope to keep updating more during this week during after hours. Cheers!

Daily doodle 3/6/08...

Hey everyone, here is a creature doodle update. I was looking through some of my friends blogs (Tara Rueping) and (JoshuaTheJames) and really got me wanting to do some daily doodles/sketches. Here is a hamster like creature....yep. Enjoy!

Hello again,

This semester I am helping the kids in Greg Foertsch's character modeling class with their projects. Even though I am not technically in the class, I really love making characters, so I decided to work along with the students and make my own character on the side. The first two concepts were what I presented the second week of class. Everyone decided that they wanted to see me pursue the scarecrow concept. Currently I have just finished unwrapping the character and I am moving on to texturing and zbrushing.

THESIS!

Hey Everyone,

Dave had asked me to post some of the work I have been doing in thesis. So here is some of the work I did last semester. Ignore the bad video, my video editing skills aren't really that great, but it shows some of the character rigging I completed with the characters.
