Jab Strong Fierce
This was done for the Jab Strong Fierce show at the Nucleus Gallery. It was a tribute show for the release of the new Street Fighter IV game. This piece depicts Dhalsim vs. Fei Long. (18 x 24, watercolor and acrylic)
I wasn't able to make it out to L.A. for the show, but there are a lot of videos and blogs out there that documented the opening. Looked like a fun time.

Recent oil paintings
I'm having a show with a ceramics artist, Rob Bilek, who use to work at BHG as an art intern. I really wanted to use the opportunity to push myself to do some new paintings, so over break I started five canvases. The gallery specifically asked for Antarctic work, so that's what I went with, and it was nice to return to that theme. There are five new ones below and the last one is an old one I updated. These range from 24 inches across to 40, so they're a little big for what I usually do, then there were a handful of smaller, older paintings I included in the show.

Blue Giant 2.0
I'm like Lucas and Spielberg the way I keep re-doing my oldies! But they're considered masters at what they do, and I'm not where I wanna be yet. Well, at least in my case I think there's a significant step up from before. To think, less than 6 months ago I was satisfied with leaving this image here
Silly me. Thanks to everyone who helped me out on this one. Invaluble.

Marsh painting finished
I finished this one up last night. The bottom one is the final one; the two above are the two previous nights' work. I learn a lot by looking at where I've come from in a piece (oftentimes I realize I've gone too far) so I put this together to compare them.
It's been too long since I've touched canvas, but it felt really good. I don't think I'll ever get tired of experimenting with color and brushwork, or learn enough where I think I don't have something to new to experience from every inch of a piece.

Charcoal portrait and oil landscape
Did this drawing of Jess a bit ago. I told her she could play video games while I drew her. I'm not doing that again. She squirms and makes faces.
I started an oil painting last night, a larger (18" x 36") version of the completed painting just below (6" x 12"). I just did the underpainting last night, and still have a long way to go, but it felt really good to be painting.
The original, from coastal Georgia:

Zbrush Learning
When I was starting to learn Zbrush a couple of weeks ago I grabbed a sphere and played around with it until I came up with this. I was just goofing around for a little bit, and it has any number of problems with it, but it was fun and I'll look back someday remembering this as one of the first things I did in the program.
