Some New Life Drawings

Meant to post these before... I think life drawing uses a different part of your brain than drawing for games :) Good to stretch that part out once in a while.

Life Drawing

Here's what I got from the first life drawing class down at MICA. That one at the bottom there went through some weird stuff, but I decided early on I was going to just let it happen and play with it. So don't blame the model.

Life Drawing Session

A number of Big Huge artists are participating in a series of life drawing sessions at MICA. It's been many years since I last sketched the figure, however 10 minutes into it the familiar feeling of having pencil and sketchbook in hand came rushing back. Good times...

Mock Turtle

I think I'm done with the Mock Turtle, if for nothing else than he's been sitting too long on the back burner. The barnacles were a final thought, trying to ground him in the scene a bit more.

The war is over!

Finished up my entry for the dominance war III contest. It was really tough to find any time to do this but it was worth it. Big thanks to Sang for giving me some great tips and advice on the image. I learned a lot. By the way I hope Sang and Sean post their images soon. Both of their images came out great and I didn't realize until the end that we were all representing CGTALK.

This one is for a Shakespeare story called A Midsummer Night's Dream. It's for an assignment given by Sam Weber in my fashion illustration class.
Here's the finished piece for the Watersnake image I posted earlier. Lemme know what you guys think. This took waayy too long.

Rough Sketch

I decided to sketch my next character using the blue Col-Erase pencil since I have been using digital for as long as I can remember. It's nice to go back and forth every once in awhile. But will start painting in this guy very soon here and will start tweaking several areas. Can't wait to color this dude. Cheers!
